Alabama Lawyers Focused on Providing You With Useful Elder Law Services
We represent consumers anywhere in Alabama on elder law issues. You may live out of state but if your loved one who needs elder law advice lives in Alabama, then we will be glad to chat with you.
We do consultations by phone, video, or in person
As far as our consultations, we often do these by phone as that is the most convenient way for our clients. We also can do them by video or a screen sharing service. This is especially helpful when we have family members scattered throughout the country and it is not convenient for everyone to meet in one place.
If you do want to meet in person, we can do so in Birmingham or in Madison (Huntsville).
Think of our role as being similar to a GPS
Our goal in any meeting is to understand your situation.
Let’s think of this like using GPS.
We first have to figure out your current location.
Once we know that, then we need to figure out where you want to end up — your destination.
Then our job becomes to help you see the options to get from where you are now, to where you want to end up.
Finally, we explain the costs involved so you can make the best decision for your family.
Whatever your situation, we will look at it as a unique situation — we do not practice “cookie cutter” law or “word processing” law.
Every situation is different and what might be the best course of action for someone else, facing a different set of facts, may not be the best option for you.
Our approach is that it is much better to spend a little bit of time and effort to figure out your options than to just assume what your rights are in a particular situation.
Let us help you understand your rights and understand what the best course of action is for you to take.
This has been our guiding principle since we started practicing law in Alabama. I have been practicing since 1995. My partner Stan Herring started in 1997.
We help you understand your rights.
If you don’t know your rights, very hard to take the right action.
But even if you know your rights, you need to take the right action to accomplish your goals.
We help you do this.
One way we do this is to break down complicated areas of the law into understandable language and examples so you can better understand your rights and your options.
The area of “elder law” is vitally important to so many in Alabama. We don’t want the complexity of this to discourage you from finding out what is best for your family.

PS — some folks like to know about awards and rankings, etc. I’m not sure it is helpful but if you like that sort of stuff here is a partial list:
- AV rated (highest rating) by Martindale Hubbell for over 10 years
- 10.0 rating (highest rating) with Avvo for many years
