VA Aid & Attendance: Only 10% Of Eligible Veterans Receive This Valuable Benefit

VA Aid & Attendance:  Only 10% Of Eligible Veterans Receive This Valuable Benefit

VA Aid & Attendance: Only 10% Of Eligible Veterans Receive This Valuable BenefitThe VA has said that this Pension (Aid & Attendance) benefit is an “underutilized benefit.”

Unfortunately, this is a benefit that veterans should be receiving it but they are not.

So how underutilized is it?

Only 10% of veterans who are eligible are receiving it.

1 out of 10 are receiving up to $2,054 a month in tax free benefits to help pay for care in home or at an assisted living facility.

Nearly $25,000 a year.

Can you imagine 90% of those entitled to receive these benefits (there are 3 levels of benefits) — for service they or their deceased spouse paid the price of serving this country — are not receiving it.

9 out of 10.

It is hard to even imagine any other benefit this valuable and necessary where the government says “Oh yes, well, 9 out of 10 folks who should receive it are not actually receiving it.”

We have spoken about the three most common myths that veterans and their families believe that can discourage them from even finding out if this benefit is available.

Please take a look at our article so you will not fall victim to this.

The VA also estimates the average benefit is about $4000 a year.

We suspect this number is too low as the VA often doesn’t take into account that the gross income must be reduced by unreimbursed medical expenses — this is known as IVAP.
