VA Aid & Attendance: You Earned The Money With Your Service

VA Aid & Attendance:  You Earned The Money With Your Service

As a wartime veteran, or a surviving spouse, you earned the VA Pension benefit known as Aid & Attendance with your service to our country.  This benefit can pay over $25,000 a year tax free to help with long term care at home, in an assisted living facility, or even in a nursing home.

Don’t let anyone tell you, and this includes yourself, that this is “charity” or a gift.

It is not.

Abraham Lincoln famously said on March 4, 1865,

“The debt owed to America’s veterans is to care for him who shall have borne the battle, and for his widow, and for his orphan.”

Our government has also stated the mission is to “To serve America’s veterans and their families as their principal advocate in ensuring that they receive the care, support and recognition they have earned in service to this nation.”

When you earn something, you are owed it.

In 1 Timothy 5:8 the Apostle Paul writes “For the Scripture says . . . ‘The laborer deserves his wages.’”  Something you earn is not a hand out.

You labored in service to our country.

You deserve this benefit.

Stated another way, this benefit is a debt the government recognizes that it owes you for your service (or the service of your deceased spouse).

So you must always feel comfortable finding out what you are entitled to receive.

This can be over $20oo a month for you if your spouse is still alive and you need help with basic daily functions.

For someone to argue to you that you should ignore these benefits is to show disrespect for your service to our country.

It’s the same as someone not wanting to pay you for the good work you have done.

You earned these benefits and now you are entitled to them in your later years. Take advantage of getting what you have earned.

Of what you deserve.

We look forward to hearing from you and helping you.

Have a great day!
